By The Numbers - RD16, (2017)

Subiaco created history at the weekend with a 13thconsecutive win with an 82-point victory over Perth. These are some more of the key numbers behind Round 16.

1 – POINTS AGAINST: At the top of the WAFL ladder Subiaco hold a three game lead over South Fremantle while South Fremantle hold a 12% lead over Subiaco, however the difference in points against is just 1, South Fremantle conceding 943 and Subiaco 944. Peel has the best defensive mark for points conceded at 893. With defence being the hallmark of finals, keep an eye on these teams and points against numbers in the back half of the year.

4 – FOUR QUARTER WINS: Saturday’s win marked the fourth four quarter win for Subiaco this year. Twice they have beaten Perth in all four quarters, Swan Districts once and East Perth once.

6 – LAST QUARTER WINS: Subiaco won the last quarter for the sixth time in a row, finishing strongly against Perth. The last time Subiaco lost a last quarter was back in Round 9.

9 – HANCOCK: Midfielder Scott Hancock has an incredible record against Perth. Hancock sports a perfect nine wins from nine games when playing against Perth. Interestingly Hancock also sports a perfect nine win from nine game record against Peel.

11 – DEBUTANTS: Ryan Vermeersch was the 11thnew Lion to debut in 2017. He joins a list that includes club debuts for Adamson, Baker, Braut, Creeper, Guiness, Litherland, Matera, Perkins, Polak and Powell.

13 – WIN STREAK: Subiaco has a new record for consecutive in-season wins with 13. A win over Claremont in Esperance next week will ensure that the 2017 Subiaco side has the second longest win streak in club history, with the 19 wins across 2006 and 2007 firmly in sight.

21 – BEHINDS: Subiaco recorded 21 behinds on Saturday, the most in a game this season and their most since Round 5, 2016 when the side scored 12.23 against Swan Districts.

24 – QUARTER LEAD: Subiaco made a strong start against Perth, building a 24-point quarter time lead. This is their largest quarter time lead of the season and was significant given Perth’s recent strong first quarter form.

30 – COCKIE: Fittingly on NAIDOC Round, Adam Cockie had a Subiaco league career high 30 possessions in the win over Perth.

32 – INSIDE 50s: Subiaco conceded just 32 inside 50 entries to Perth. Over the past three wins, Subiaco has not conceded more than 36 inside 50 entries per contest.

48.78 – GOAL ACCURACY: Subiaco’s goal accuracy on Saturday was 48.78%. So far in 2017 Subiaco have recorded a goal accuracy of 50.49% which is the second worst mark in the WAFL. That means despite the 13 game winning streak there is still plenty of room for improvement.

107 – VERMEERSCH: It took Ryan Vermeersch 71 games and 107 goals at reserves and colts level to get his league chance. He found the goals in his league debut with two goals on debut.
