Vale John Byrne
Thursday, 15 December 2016
The Subiaco Football Club is saddened to learn the passing of long-time volunteer and life member John Byrne.
Byrne got involved with the club through fellow life-member Ron Tester in the 1960's and amassed countless hours of volunteer work for the SFC District. Tester said John was a kind, dedicated club man.
"He was a man of tremendous character. Life wasn't easy on John but he would still give you the shirt off his back. You honestly couldn't meet a better person,"
"He loved helping out at the club and supported the colts up until his final years through fundraising, volunteering and even offering his house in Moore River for pre-season camps." said Tester
Byrnes was also the team manager of Karrinyup JFC when Subiaco great Laurie Keene played under 12’s to 14’s. He assisted in a variety of roles in the fledgling years of the KJFC & SFC.
"All of the players who were around John will definitely feel the impact of his passing. He was a strong figure in the history of the club." added Tester
John's funeral will take place on Monday 9th January 2017, 2:00pm at Pinnaroo Valley Memorial Park.
Thanks for everything John.
