Around The Club: October

Two-time premiership player and Simpson Medallist Matt Boland is returning to Victoria after two seasons in the WAFL for the Lions.

Boland led the goal kicking for the Lions with 53 in 2014 before a frustrating season of injury held the ex-Parkdale forward back.

The classy key forward returned late in the season for the Lions in 2015 kicking 31 from 10 games including seven in the WAFL Grand Final against West Perth.

Football Operations Manager Luke Sanders acknowledged Boland’s contributions and wished him well on the next chapter.

“Matt has been a great player for the club over the past two years but he’s heading home for career opportunities and to be closer to his family,

He’s a dual premiership player, a Simpson medallist and has proved he is a very valuable player at WAFL level,

He has made a great contribution to the club over the last two years and we wish him well on his future endeavours.” Said Sanders
