Lions Buzz: Round 21

Subi claimed the minor premiership and primed themselves for a run at back-to-back premierships with a dominant 93 point win over Perth on the weekend.
Despite an early scare from the last placed Demons; Subiaco dominated the last three quarters to record their 15th win of the season and secure a first round bye in the finals. Subi kicked 19.12 to 4.5 over the last three periods of play in a resounding display. It was a career day for a couple of Lions with Halligan kicking a PB of six goals and Chris Phelan kicking a PB of four goals.
Sam Menegola was named best on ground again for the Lions as he continues to generate momentum heading into finals. With Kyal Horsley and Leigh Kitchin fit and 2013 Outridge medallist Brett Mahoney expected to return soon; Subiaco's midfield are peaking at the right time of the season.
The Lions defence are also on track to be the stingiest of the modern era. The current record for least points condeeded in a season is held by the 2005 Lions who finished with 1247 against them at an average of 62.35 a game. Eighteen games in and Subi have only conceeded 1003 points at an average of 45.59 points a game. With two games remaining against East Fremantle and East Perth the 2015 Lions are a good chance to make history.

Footy WA had a chat to Subiaco midfielder Sam Menegola on his season at the Lions and his aspirations for the future. Menegola has been outstanding for Subi since his Round 11 debut.
Approximately 1600 visited Lathlain Park on Saturday for one of the best days of footy this winter.
West Coast Eagles and Subiaco legend Drew Banfield was highlighted by the Past Players twitter feed on Derby eve. Banfield won the first ever Ross Glendinning Medal in the 1996 Western Derby.  Subiaco had four representatives in Western Derby 42 with Matt Priddis (WCE), Dom Sheed (WCE), Callum Sinclair (WCE) and David Mundy (FRE) strongly showing for the Lions.
Ben Cameron |  I hope @WestPerthFC are allowed to play in the finals. I will really enjoy watching @subiacolions beat them in the GF.
