Subiaco have appointed Neil Arnold as the club’s new Player Development Officer following the retirement of Jeff Lind.
Arnold has been involved in football as a player and coach for over 20 years and steps in to the role with a broad wealth of experience.
“I played in the PSA for Hale when I was younger and went on to play amateurs and country footy before I got my start at assistant coach for Wembley in 2007. I gave coaching a break before I was offered a district role at Subiaco a few years ago.”
Arnold served as District Development Officer for Subiaco for three years and was integral in the development of Subiaco’s Balga SHS Community Outreach Program.
Neil Arnold has been a key cog in Subiaco's Balga Community Outreach Program.
Along with his hard work in the community Arnold was an assistant coach with the Colts last year and looks forward his newly appointed position of PDO.
“The diversity and variety of tasks in this new role is exciting. The players you get to work with and the relationships you build make this opportunity something I’m really looking forward to.” Said Arnold
The Colts have already begun pre-season for 2015 under new coach Sean Wrigley and Arnold has welcomed new faces along with a host of old ones.
“The Colts kicked off last Monday and will run three times a week. With Sean Wrigley as the new coach and Mike Pannell and Wayne Golding returning I’m really excited to get up and running. We have familiar faces mixing with a couple of new coaches so there are a lot of fresh and exciting ideas coming across the table.”
Despite a change of hands at the PDO role Arnold reinforced that development will always remain the focus at Colts level.
“It’s all about the development of the players. The big thing we push is a high performance culture and wanting to get the best out of yourself. Not just for the playing group but for the coaching group as well, We all want to develop and grow together.”
