Kal kid heads to Perth

The Subiaco Colts will be welcoming the arrival of 17-year-old utility Ryan Borchet this week as he journeys to Perth from Kalgoorlie.

Son of local footy personality Graeme Borchet, the 186 cm tall is set to have a crack at football in the city.

With a body type built for aerial contests Borchet could bring another asset in the Colts forward line.

“Borchet is expected to play in the forward line. He has the ability to play a key forward position but will most likely be featured as a high half-forward. Said PDO Jeff Lind. “

“He’s a highly skilled player with a great ability on both sides of his body. He’s also a sure ball-handler and has an extremely calm head which were looking forward to seeing this weekend.”

Although Borchet will be joining the Colts system for the first time this week he’s no stranger to the Lions.

“Borchet has been apart of our development systems through 14’s to 16’s so he’s no foreigner to the Subiaco football club. He knows the boys and will be coming down for the week to get a taste of Colts football.”

Kalgoorlie has become a hot spot for the Subiaco Lions with numerous players finding success when relocating to the city.

Player development officer Jeff Lind believes it’s because football is a way of life in the Goldfields.

“Country footy fosters participation at an early age. Sport is a vital component of their community and their heavily imbedded in their clubs at an early age.”

Borchet will join the Colts for their Thursday night training session as they prepare for the Claremont Tigers on Saturday.

Check back in on Thursday for the Subiaco Lions Colts preview.
