Sinclair, Lycett in clash of the giants
- Wednesday, 27 March 2013
Subiaco ruckman Callum Sinclair will get the chance to impress West Coast selectors when he and fellow Eagles ruckman Scott Lycett go head to head in Good Friday’s Leederville derby.
The ruck duel will go a long way in deciding the outcome of the game, and will have further significance for Eagles coach John Worsfold who is looking to fill the void left by injured star Nic Naitanui
The Eagles have a bye meaning the 203 cm Lycett , who played his fourth AFL game against Fremantle on the weekend, will line up for his new WAFL club East Perth on Friday afternoon.
West Coast have the option of upgrading one of its four rookies to the senior list after Mark Nicoski was shifted to the long-term injury list.
Sinclair stared in the Lions first outing for 2013, the 200cm ruckman helping himself to 17 possessions, 40 hit outs and kicked two goals in Subiaco’s loss to West Perth.
East Perth got the better of Subiaco during the pre-season but will need to counter for the inclusion Aiden Parker who was missing a month ago. Parker was named best on ground in round 2 and is likely to be tasked with shutting down Royals spearhead Josh Smith.
The two teams face off in their second Good Friday fixture, an event that’s fast becoming a WAFL tradition.
