Subi shines at WA Talent Day
- Wednesday, 06 February 2013
The Subiaco Football Club shone brightly at this year’s WA Talent Day with our prospective State representatives Jordan Bestry, Cody Grace, Joshua Deluca, Declan Jackson, Hayden Kennedy and Dom Sheed performing impressively in front of AFL recruiters and WA State Academy Coaches.
The day’s itinerary included AFL Combine testing, skills testing, AFL club interviews and an exhibition match to get an understanding of what Western Australia’s current crop of young footballers had to offer.
The Lions contingent proved themselves not only through the testing but impressively in the exhibition game, where Subiaco played amongst Claremont, West Perth, Swan Districts and East Perth’s best young talent for the WA North side.
Cody Grace impressed with a dominant aerial display and two goals, Hayden Kennedy was ferocious in the backline and Jordan Bestry worked well as a roving ruckman.
Joshua Deluca was played in a rotating role on the wing and was silky with his disposal and Declan Jackson was at his usual stingy best, dominating his opponent as a standalone fullback.
The hit-out was a perfect start to an exciting year for the 2013 Colts, who have been conditioned by head coach Steve Armstrong to conduct themselves at a high standard
“Our Colts system is based around making a smooth transition into the next level of football. We’re going to try and push them to perfection, but whatever they commit to the game is what they’re going get out when put to the test.”
“The guys did really well on Saturday; they performed at a high level and conducted themselves in a professional manner.”
The players will now return to pre-season training with the commencement of the 2013 campaign only a month away.
