Giro Steps Up To Help Grow Women's Program

The Subiaco Women’s preseason is off to a flyer with the newly appointment head coach, Baker Denneman, who has brought a wealth of experience and success from his tenure at Sydney W FC. Alongside him, the club welcomes Stef Giro as the new Subiaco Women's Manager, a familiar face to Subiaco League fans. This dynamic duo is set to lead Subiaco Womens into a new era of football excellence.

Baker Denneman: A Visionary Leader

Baker Denneman (above), hailing from Sydney FC, brings a fresh perspective and a winning mentality to Subiaco Football Club. With a proven track record of success in developing talent and experience with Women’s Football at the highest level, Denneman's appointment signals the club's commitment to raising the bar. His strategic approach to the game and emphasis on player development align perfectly with Subiaco's vision for the future.

Stef Giro: Women’s Operations Manager

Stef Giro takes on the role of Women’s Operations Manager. Giro, has been at the Lions for two years since leaving the Fremantle Dockers and the Outridge medalist brings a strong knowledge of the club's culture and values to the Women’s team as well as the professionalism gained through his AFL and WAFL experience.

Giro shared his excitement of the club’s new direction "I am eager to get started with Baker and to give the women’s program the best opportunity to chase success from development squads through to League. I’ve been study Sport and Business at Deakin University and keen to use this knowledge along with my football experience to guide the program in a positive direct.”

Subiaco FC moves into its second year of the One Club model, adding the operations of the women’s teams under it banner, Giro states, “I’m keen to make the club more inclusive, strengthening the bond between the men’s and women’s programs”

Giro will miss the 2024 season as a player for the Lions with an injury sustained in the off season, but this new role gives him a great opportunity to focus on growing the Women's football program at the club and developing his career in sports administration.
