WAFL: Round 17 Match Preview vs East Perth

Thursday, August 11, 2022 - 9:14 PM by Matt Paddick

Subiaco will be looking to continue their good form this week, when they take on the Royals at Leederville Oval on Saturday August 13.

The co-tenants of the ground will be battling it out for the North Perth Community Bank Cup, in what is set to be a heated contest.

FORM

Subiaco came off the bye strongly, taking down West Coast by 23 points last round.

The Lions snapped a four-game losing streak, and will be looking to build momentum to finish season 2022 off on a high.

Meanwhile, East Perth are coming off a bye of their own in round 16, and will be hungry for a win.

They have lost their past two matches against Swan Districts and Peel Thunder, with their finals chances hanging in the balance against Subiaco.

It means this weekend’s clash will be worth more than just the four points on offer.

LAST TIME THEY MET

Subiaco claimed their first win of the season back in round four in emphatic fashion, taking a one-point victory.

It was neck and neck the whole contest, and the scores were level with fewer than two minutes to play.

Both teams tried to surge the ball in their forward line, but it was Max Walters who proved to be the hero.

He soccered the ball through for a behind, with the siren blowing seconds after to get the Lions off the mark in 2022.

ONE TO WATCH

After coming across from East Fremantle, Jordan Snadden looks to have found his place in Subiaco’s lineup.

Recruited as an inside midfielder to fill the void left by Greg Clark, Snadden initially struggled for impact as he adapted to his new side’s game style.
After a brief stint in the reserves, he worked his way back into the team where he found form on the wing.

Since his return to the league side, he’s averaging 20 touches and nearly five marks per game, and will be important for the team going forward.
