A third term burst from Subiaco was the key behind the side’s triumph over East Fremantle, winning by 31 points at the WACA Ground on Saturday May 28.

With just four points separating the sides at half time, the Lions kicked into gear with five goals to one, setting up the 14.11 (95) to 9.10 (64) victory.

Subiaco got out to an early lead in the contest, before the Sharks fought their way back into the match, taking the lead in the second term.

Forward Jake South after half time had a huge impact, kicking three goals in the space of four minutes to help the Lions take control of the game. 

The dominant term meant the momentum was all with Subiaco in the last, kicking five majors in the last to put the exclamation mark on the win.

South finished with five goals to be one of the Lions’ best on the day, while Chayse Grabe-Paparone was influential with three goals and seven tackles.

Meanwhile Corey Robinson was prolific in the midfield, with a game-high 25 disposals and six inside 50s.

COLTS

Subiaco was able to grind out a 15-point win to stun East Fremantle on their home deck to start the day.

It was a see-sawing contest, beginning with the Lions looking in control as Tyler Senge kicked the first goal of the match.

The two sides traded goals throughout the first half, but the Sharks inaccuracy in front of goal proved costly, with Subiaco leading by 25 points early in the third term.

From there East Fremantle caught fire, kicking 5 goals in a row to take the lead at three-quarter time.

The Lions rallied and showed their resilience, kicking four goals to one to wrestle back the momentum and finish ahead at the final siren.

Young tall Luker Kentfield was a presence up forward with a game-high three goals, while captain Jacob Evitt was instrumental in the Subiaco fightback with 16 touches and five inside 50s.

Big-bodied midfielder Ryan Newick picked up a team-high 20 disposals, while Mitchell O’Keefe continued his fine season with 15 possessions and five marks.
