RESERVES

Subiaco were left stunned by the Royals in the reserves, with a heartbreaking three-point loss at Leederville Oval on Saturday.

After an even start to the match, the Lions broke away in the second term kicking five goals to one, taking a 26-point lead into half time.

East Perth fought strongly, but Subiaco appeared too strong over the first three quarters to lead by 32 points at three quarter time.

However, the Royals refused to back down, kicking the first six goals of the last quarter to inch themselves in front.

Jordan Faraone put through his fourth major of the game to get the Lions the lead, but a late goal from East Perth was enough to get them over the line.

Backman Lachlan Henderson was important for the side with 16 disposals and five marks, while Chayse Grabe-Paparone looked lively up forward, kicking three goals.

Corey Robinson was amongst the action with a team high 22 touches, and Corey Bellouard was influential on the wing with 17 possessions.

COLTS

In a similar fashion to the reserves, the Colts fell agonisingly short of victory, losing by three points to East Perth.

Accuracy in front of goal was the downfall for Subiaco, who had more scoring shots than the Royals but were less efficient, kicking 10.12 (72) to 12.3 (75).

The Lions got off to the perfect start, with Robert Hansen putting through a classy snap to get Subiaco the first goal.

Subiaco led by 27 points halfway through the second term, but the Royals kept coming back, bridging the gap to just two points at three quarter time.

East Perth got on top early in the last, and held a nine point lead with 10 minutes left.

It was a tense last part of the quarter, but the Royals held their nerve to take the win.

Key forward Koltyn Tholstrup continued his strong season with five goals, while Tyson Wright put on plenty of pressure in defence with seven disposals and six tackles.
