Subiaco are basking in their glory after they secured their 16th Premiership in club history, storming home 44-point victors against South Freo in the 2021 Grand Final.

Subi did just that, stormed home to convincingly win the greatest prize of all after not only holding the Bulldogs scoreless for the third quarter but outscoring them 4 goals to 2 in the final term.

Both teams were up and about early in a heated first quarter where the scoreline read 2.2 (14) to 1.4 (10) in Subi’s favour. In a two-goal term for both sides in the second, Subi grew their lead to 9.

After the main break, Subi started to sink their teeth in as the tension was well and truly being felt around the ground. Subi kicked more than half of their final score in the second half, 51 points, 26 of them in the ‘Premiership’ quarter where they dominated the scoring kicking six in a row.

To round out the game, Subi blew South Freo out the water in that 4 goals to 2 quarter and made their name on that Premiership cup a sure thing.

The Lions 65% scoring accuracy held them in good stead as South struggled to get less than half their scoring shots through the big sticks.

A certainly well-deserved Simpson Medallist, Greg Clark was instrumental in the Lions engine room. His stats on the biggest game of all were a testament to the exceptional season he had; 26 disposals, 14 tackles, 6 marks and to confirm he was best on, kicked 2 goals as well. Racking up disposals on a memorable day Marsh had 25, Harris 19, Dewar 20  and Wil Hickmott with 23.

The entirety of Subi’s backline was crucial in such an emphatic win in particular holding South’s forwards to just five goals, special mentions to Hayden Kennedy who had 11 touches and Jordan Lockyer took 6 marks along with his 12 disposals.

Subiaco had multiple goalkickers on the day; Harry Marsh with 3, Clark, Wil Hickmott and Brandon Matera all had two, Bailey had one as did Jack Mayo, Sokol and Braut.
