Wednesday, August 25, 2021 - 1:25 PM by Alice Miller

16 down, two to go. Round 21 of the Optus WAFL 2021 home and away season and it’s a clash against co-tenants, East Perth, this Saturday on an overcast afternoon.

Bouncedown is at 2:10pm and will be an East Perth home game but at Leederville Oval.

Keep an eye on Subiaco’s social media channels and app for updates across the day if you cannot make it to the game

FORM

Subi recorded their fourth loss of the season two weeks ago in a disappointing result against sixth-placed Sharks at Leederville Oval. The game seemed to slip away from Subi’s grasp after leading at half time, being deprived of scoring for the third term as the Sharks piled on 7.1. Delahunty contributed strongly on the day with 32 disposals, 12 marks and five inside 50s as did Liam Hickmott who had 7 marks, 8 tackles with his 23 touches. Subi are on 12 wins, one more than Souths in second and aim to make in 14 by the end of next week’s game.

OPPONENTS FORM

East Perth are up the other end of the stick, 6 wins and coming off two straight losses to make their total 11 for the season. Last week they also faced the task of downing the Sharks but fell short by just two points in the end. The game before that was to Swan Districts in a heavier loss 14.11 (95) to 8.6 (54). Rohan Kerr has been their top performer over those two match ups, having an accumulative 62 touches, 18 marks and 7 tackles. Having now been out of the finals race, it’ll be East Perth’s want to finish their season off on a positive note with a win this weekend.

GOAL KICKERS

Last time these two sides played each other was back in round 1 when Subi got off to the ideal start to the season with a final winning margin of 26. Subi booted 15 majors in which Heal, Braut and Sokol shared three each. Jordan Faraone kicked two of his own, with Kitchin, Liam Hickmott, Borchet and Putt all kicking a goal each.

LAST TWO TIMES

Subiaco have had the wood over the Royals over the last few years, bar last year when it was East Perth that went home with four more points in the bank winning 9.9 (63) to 7.12 (54). Of the last five matches between the two sides, Subi have won by an average margin of 48 points in the four wins.

OTHER GRADES

Subiaco’s Reserves have a chance to keep their season going longer than the next two weeks this Saturday as they sit just percentage out of the top five. This week’s game will be a heated clash as the Royals are just one win behind Subi and will be their final opportunity to make their bid for finals. Bouncedown is at 11:40am.

Colts will kick off the day at 9:10am also against East Perth at Leederville Oval.
