WAFLW Round Recap v East Fremantle

Monday, May 17, 2021 - 1:30 PM by Alice Miller

Subiaco maintained their winning streak as they came away with their fifth win of the season against East Fremantle this past Sunday. This makes it three consecutive wins in a row and nice run of form to go with it.

The Lions started slow in the first half with Sharks kicking a goal to Subi’s minor score for the first term. The game tightened as the the score became all square going into the main break. Although, that all went up in the air when Subi made in a dominating affair in the second half, adding on another 8.5. This listed no response from the home team as they made no addition to their score for the remainder of the game, finishing with 2.1 to Subiaco’s 10.6.

The Lions’ repeat entries and piling on scores were backed up by their notable defensive efforts and helped them on their way to a 53 point victory.
Amy Hunt continues to be imposing in front of goal, contributing 3.2 to the team’s score. These consistent efforts are rewarded by moving her up to third for leading goal kicker in the WAFLW competition this year.

This third consecutive win for the season sees the Lions sit fifth on the ladder, one win behind Claremont sitting in Fourth. With confidence up their sleeve, Subi will face the team to beat this year once again at home, Swan Districts at Leederville Oval. The game will be on this Sunday at 12:05pm.
