Thursday, April 29, 2021 - 8:52 AM by Alice Miller

After the interruptions of round nine being postponed, Subiaco will be up against a struggling South Freo side this Sunday as the Bulldogs sit bottom of the ladder after recording no wins of the season thus far. The game will kick off at 2pm in what looks to be ideal conditions.

FORM
Subi are coming off a close game in round 8 against undefeated and top of the table, Swan Districts, when the margin was down to just 8 when the final siren sounded. The Lions showed real fight and encouraging signs in what was expected to be a clear difference between both teams especially being in Swans territory at Steele Blue Oval. This is what Subi were hoping to see as it shows good signs despite only having the two victories of the season. A close contest against the best side in the comp is the confidence boost the Lions were after to kick start the second half of the comp and aiming towards getting back on the winners list. Amy Hunt has been most imposing in front of the big sticks for the team so far with eight majors putting her to sit fourth out of the competition for leading goal scorer.

OPPONENTS FORM
South Freo are struggling to find form in season 2021 as they are yet to record a victory for the year. Zoe Huggett has been South’s leading goal kicker with eight so far for the season.  Following on from also a poor year of form in 2020, South freo will be looking for a spark in the team to claim their first four points of the year and to start to take a hold of their season.

LAST TIME THEY MET
The last time these two sides met was in round 6 of this year’s premiership season, when Subiaco demolished the Bulldogs in an 11 goals to one performance . The Lions held South Freo scoreless for three quarters of the match, completely controlling all areas of the game and even more so, piling on as many goals. In what could’ve been bigger win, the Lions had 23 scoring shots for 11 goals and 12 minor scores which put the final margin to 72 in the end.

GOAL KICKERS
In the round six clash it was, Kia Buckley, and Tarnee Tester that booted three goals each, with Amy Hunt and Kate Pocsidio kicking two each as well. Abbey Dowrick also featured with a major to her name. For South Freo it was Hunter Cronin that kicked the Bulldogs lone goal for the game.
