Reserves 2nd Semi-Final v East Perth Match Preview

Thursday, September 17, 2020 - 9:30 AM

Week One of the WAFL Reserves Finals series kicks off, with Subiaco meeting East Perth on neutral turf at Provident Financial Oval. Bounce down is at 11:00am on Sunday, September 20 with the winner of this top-two clash gaining straight passage through to the Grand Final and enjoying a valuable week off in the process.

If you can’t make it to the game, keep an eye on Subiaco’s social media channels and app for updates across the day.

FORM
The Lions have enjoyed a fantastic 2020 Home-and-Away season which has seen them win five of their seven games and finish second on the ladder, with daylight between them and the third-placed Claremont Tigers. The Lions are coming off the back of a gutsy six-point win away against West Perth and have not lost since Round 6.

OPPONENTS FORM
East Perth have been the form team of the 2020 WAFL Reserves Season, going unbeaten for the entire season and boasting an impressive percentage of 160.3. They are the team to beat in Season 2020 and this weekend’s match shapes as an excellent opportunity for the Lions to test themselves against the best.

LAST TIME THEY MET
Subiaco and East Perth last met in Round 6 of the 2020 WAFL Home-and-Away Season. The Lions were defeated by 18 points, 8.9.57 to 5.9.39. This match marks the one and only loss that Subiaco have had this season, while the Royals have enjoyed an unbeaten run thus far. If three goals was all that separated the two sides that day, then expect the intense Finals atmosphere to narrow that margin and provide an even more thrilling contest.

GOAL KICKERS
Last time these two sides met was a tight and low-scoring affair, Subiaco registered five goals for the match; with Mitchell Hughes and Brandan Young both registering two majors each for the afternoon. Nathan French also contributed to the scoreboard, kicking one for the match to round out the goal kickers for the Lions.

IN ONE SENTENCE
This match looms as a potential Grand Final preview, with the two best teams going head to head.
