This Saturday, September 19 marks the 2020 AFLW Grand Final between Subiaco and Peel Thunder. The two sides will meet on neutral turf at Provident Financial Oval, with bouncedown at 2:40pm.

If you can’t make it to the game, keep an eye on Subiaco’s social media channels and app for updates across the day.

FORM
The Lions enter as the form team this season, finishing two games clear on top of the ladder and a considerable gap in percentage between themselves and the second-placed Peel Thunder. The Lions hold the bragging rights over Peel Thunder in Season 2020, who they have beaten twice already this season, once in Round 5 and the other – more importantly - in the first week of Finals. With recent success on their mind, the Lions will be full of confidence as they attempt to secure their first WAFLW Premiership.

OPPONENTS FORM
Peel Thunder have enjoyed a successful 2020 season that has seen them finish second on the WAFLW ladder, two games behind the top-placed Lions. The log jam throughout the ladder saw Peel essentially only finish one win and percentage off of being second-last, despite being second. There is no doubt they head into this match as massive underdogs against a Subiaco outfit that has been so dominant this season.

LAST TIME THEY MET
The last time these two sides met was earlier this month in the first week of the WAFLW Finals series. The Lions hosted Peel Thunder at Leederville Oval in a wet and windy match that was hard-fought until the very end. Subiaco got the jump on Peel Thunder early as they kept them goalless in the first quarter, opening up a 13-point lead in the process. Peel fought back after quarter time, as they piled on three goals to one in the second quarter and opened up a two-point lead at the main break. The weather won the second half as both teams struggled to gain momentum and open up a match-winning lead in what turned in to an arm wrestle of a contest. The Lions managed to boot the only goal of the second half as they managed to cling on for a gutsy six-point victory and book their place in the Grand Final.

GOAL KICKERS
The last time these two sides met saw an incredibly tight match with only a single major separating the two sides as the final whistle was blown. Kia Buckley was the shining light up forward, as she kicked two of the Lions four goals for the afternoon. Aimee Schmidt and Abbey Dowrick provided support to the star Lion with one goal apiece.

IN ONE SENTENCE
The Lions have been a dominant force in Season 2020, this weekend looms as the perfect opportunity to achieve the ultimate success and claim the clubs maiden WAFLW Premiership.
