WAFLW Match Preview v South Fremantle

Tuesday, August 25, 2020 - 9:19 AM by Creed Griffiths

This Sunday, Subiaco will look to bounce back from their shock loss to East Fremantle against the bottom-placed and winless South Fremantle Bulldogs. Their Round 7 clash will be at Leederville Oval, with bouncedown at 2:00 pm on Sunday afternoon, August 30.

Keep an eye on Subiaco’s social media channels and app for updates across the day if you cannot make it to the game.

FORM
Subiaco have proven to be a dominant side in the 2020 season thus far, winning every game bar one and sitting a game clear at the top of the ladder with a mammoth percentage. With a Finals birth sewn up, the Lions will be looking to fine-tune their game plan and iron out any kinks before they attempt to secure their first WAFLW flag later on this year. Subiaco will be looking to make amends for last week’s upset loss, with the Bulldogs firmly in their crosshairs, with a win guaranteeing top spot as well as the mantle of back-to-back minor Premiers, a feat which the club will no doubt be mightily proud of.

OPPONENTS FORM
South Fremantle have been having a challenging season so far, sitting winless and last on the table. The wooden spoon is already guaranteed for the Bulldogs, with five straight losses and a meagre percentage of just 10%.

LAST TIME THEY MET
The two sides last met in Round 4 of the 2020 Season, with the Lions crushing the Bulldogs 14.11.95 to 2.2.14, running out 81-point winners. The Lions dominated up forward that day with Aimee Schmidt booting five goals, with Lara Filocamo (3 goals), Kia Buckley (2 goals) and Abbey Dowrick (2 goals) all providing support. Expect the Lions forwards to dominate once again and look to fill their boots against a Bulldogs backline they have strong form on.
