Wednesday, September 4, 2019 - 2:42 PM

This Sunday, Subiaco will take on South Fremantle for a 2:10pm bounce down. A win will secure the Lions a spot in the 2019 Optus WAFL Grand Final #135.

Subiaco secured the minor premiership for the 5th consecutive season, so the Lions will be hungry to get the win this week.

Keep an eye on Subiaco’s social media channels and app for updates across the day if you cannot make it to the game.

Form

Subiaco has well and truly shown their dominance and strong ability to move the ball forward and hit the scoreboard effectively throughout the entire 2019 Optus WAFL Premiership Season. Coming off a one-week bye and prior to this a 63-point win against East Perth, the Lions will be looking to maintain strong form across the field. With nine different goal kickers in their last game and a six-goal haul by Ben Sokol, Subiaco will be looking to hit the scoreboard early and get the ball in their inside 50 as often as possible.

Last 5 games

The last time Subiaco clashed with South Fremantle was in round 11, which saw Subiaco win by 33 points. In wet weather conditions, Subiaco showed their experience and strength and therefore enabled them to play some quality footy. The first game against the Bulldogs in round 6 saw South Freo win against the Lions in Subiaco’s first loss since the 2017 WAFL Grand Final.

Opponents Form

South Fremantle have been able to play some quality football throughout the season which has ultimately led them to this week’s 2nd semi-final after finishing in 2nd spot on the ladder. Last week’s match against Claremont saw them walk away with a seven-point win after the Tigers kicking ten consecutive goals, after being behind by 39  points at three-quarter-time. No doubt South Fremantle will bring their best footy to Leederville Oval, as they look to headline in the WAFL Grand FInal.
