WAFLW Match Preview: 2nd Semi-Final

Subiaco Womens take on East Fremantle at Leederville oval in the 2nd Semi-Final this Sunday, with bouncedown at 3:30pm. The winner of this match will go advance straight to the first-ever WAFLW grand final.

Form 

Subiaco will be looking to get a win in the first week of finals with a strong four-quarter performance. After coming off a 7-day-break and a round 16 win against Peel Thunder by 73 points; Subiaco will no doubt be hungry to continue on their winning streak to progress straight through to the WAFLW Grand Final.

Opponents Form

After finishing in 2nd position on the ladder East Fremantle will be looking to maintain strong their form and deliver some quality football come Sunday, to topple the minor premiers in a bid to proceed directly through to the Grand Final. The Sharks have shown strong form and have shown their ability to control the footy and hit the scoreboard in recent weeks, coming off a win against Claremont in round 15 and edging out Subiaco in round 12.

Goal Kickers

When both teams met in round 12, Tarnee Tester was the only goal kicker for the day with three goals. Tester leads the WAFLW competition with the most goals kicked in the home-and-away season, so she Subiaco will be looking to feed her the ball and take advantage of her kick. Last week saw Tester and fellow forward Aimee Schmidt kick four majors. 

Last 3 times 

Last time both teams met was in round 12 and saw East Fremantle come back from a few goals down at Half Time to defeat Subiaco by just 9 points. Subiaco will be looking to get revenge and look to play out all of the game, giving a full four-quarter effort.  Prior to round 12 clash against East Fremantle,  Subiaco took the four points in both occasions, winning by 20 points in round 7 and 11 points in round 2.  

 

Subiaco’s Rogers Cup will also be heading into finals and will play East Fremantle prior to the league game with bounce down at 2pm.
