Round 13 Preview

Thursday, July 4, 2019 - 5:00 PM

Round 13 of the 2019 WAFL Premiership Season will see Subiaco take on East Fremantle at home ground Leederville Oval for a 2.15pm bounce down on Saturday.

Keep an eye on Subiaco’s social media channels and app for updates across the day and if you cannot make it to the game.

Form

Last week Subiaco were able to maintain their strong form to bring home a 22-point win after facing a competitive West Perth in wet conditions.  Although the weather conditions were not ideal Subiaco were able to maintain a strong team performance in all four quarters to bring home the win. There were some standout performances for the day including the ruck work from both Clancy Wheeler and Lachlan Delahunty and an impressive 4 goal haul from Ryan Borchet. This week Subiaco will need to ensure they bring their best football to the field as the take on the Sharks who will be hungry for a win in what looks to be fine conditions.

Last 5 matches

In the last 5 games against East Fremantle Subiaco have been able to play some quality controlled football which has seen them win by at least 6 goals. The closest game out of the last 5 games was in Round 2 this year therefore the Lions are prepared for the Sharks to bring their best football.  The last time both teams played each other at Leederville Oval was in Round 10 of the 2018 season which saw Subiaco win by more than 100 points. Subiaco will be looking to once again move the ball into the forward line for as many goals as possible and get a win at home.

4 Quarter Effort

Subiaco have shown their ability to maintain form in recent weeks and throughout the season. They have had strong quick starts in the first quarter but have continued maintaining form and have been able to effectively move the ball into their forward line in all four quarters. All of Subiaco’s players have had to work hard as a team and have played both efficient and effective football in recent weeks. Subiaco will be looking to once again play as a strong team to hopefully come away with a win.

Opponents Form

East Fremantle currently sit in 8th position on the ladder. The last time they had a win was in round 9 of the season so Subiaco are expecting for the sharks to play their best football all over the ground as they will be wanting to get back on the winning side. Their goal kicking efficiency has let them down in recent weeks therefore they will want to be turning this around so the lions defensive group will need to maintain their strong form to limit the sharks as much as possible in their forward 50.

Other grades

Subiaco’s Reserves team will be looking for another win after their close 6-point win last week. The will play at 11.30 on Saturday prior to the league game as the try to maintain their second position on the ladder.  Meanwhile the colts will come back fighting after last week’s disappointing loss and bounce down will be at 9am. In the WAFLW Subiaco will take on Swan Districts at 12.05 on Saturday at Steel Blue Oval.
