First Subiaco Coaching Workshop Session Resounding Success

Wednesday, March 7, 2018 - 2:23 PM

The first in the Subiaco Coaching Workshop Series was held on Tuesday night with a strong and highly engaged group of community, talent and female coaches in attendance.

The group was introduced to Subiaco coach Jarrad Schofield and Subiaco colts coach Beau Wardman, with Jarrad and Beau detailing their respective journeys into coaching.

The first session saw Jarrad and Beau cover off on the fundamentals of football including kicking, marking, handballing, tackling and groundballs.

Each focus area had both a technical and practical component to it, allowing coaches to understand the key teaching points.

The coaches who attended enjoyed the insight and Subiaco flavour that was presented by both Jarrad and Beau with overall feedback being positive by both coaches who attended and Subiaco Football Club staff.

Stirling Junior Football Coach and Subiaco Development Coach Sam Multari was one of the attending coaches and thoroughly enjoyed the night.

“Really want to thank the Subiaco Football Club for putting on this workshop, it was a really good learning experience,” Multari said.

“It was refreshing to see a great coach like Jarrad give up some of his time and mentor community coaches.”

Subiaco Talent Manager Michael Farmer who instigated the Subiaco Coaching Workshop Series was equally pleased with the engagement and feedback to the session.

“It was great to see a diverse group of coaches in our district learning from arguably two of the best coaches in the WAFL system,” Farmer said.

“The flow of the series is designed for our local coaches to be able to educate and develop players in our district in a similar style for potential future Subiaco representation.”

The next workshop is set to be held in April and will focus on craft and specialist coaching. For more details contact the Subiaco Football Club on 9208 9999.
