New Life Members Voted In

Thursday, December 7, 2023 - 4:15 PM

Four worthy Life Member recipients were voted in by the Members at Wednesday's Annual General Meeting with a great combination of onfield football prowess and football administrators joining the illustrious list.

Kicking things off was recently retired Aaron Heal (pictured) who chalked up his 150th game for the Club in the 2023 season. Heal notched up 156 League games for the Club and in his prime was considered one of the premier key backs in the WAFL with 2 WA state jumpers. He was an integral part of the 2015, 2018, 2019 and 2021 Premierships.

Pictured below with Danny Green is Wayne Loxley.  Wayne played 19 League Games for the Club in the 1970's.  He went into coaching as the Club's Reserves Coach for six seasons doubling up as League Assistant Coach for the 1986 - 1989 Seasons. With all his playing, coaching and fitness experience, Wayne then transitioned into the Club's Football Department as the second ever Football Manager behind Trevor Nisbett from 1990 - 1996. Rounding out his career at Subiaco, he was a Board Member for the 1997 - 1998 seasons.

Mike Fitpatrick (lead image) is a Subiaco player who's career at the Lions was cut short after playing 97 games for the Club between 1970 - 1974, he was recruited to Carlton where he notched up 150 games and played in a number of premierships.  Perhaps even more significant was getting onto the AFL Commision and serving as their chair between 2007 and 2017.  Mike was an athletic ruckmen who was an integral part of the Club's drought breaking 1973 premiership.

Finally, another ruckmen and modern day favourite of the Club - Lachlan Delahunty (top image).  Della finished just shy of the 150 game auto qualification milestone on 141, but was a heart and soul player between 2014 and 2022 and was quickly chosen as a worthy life member of the club. Recruited from Victoria, Della made the Subiaco Football Club his home and played in four Premierships, winning a Sandover Medal in 2019 as an undersized ruckmen. Della also represented WA on four occasions.

All four new inductees will be presented their Life Member medallians at the Club's Life Members luncheon in 2024.  Date TBC.
