Reserves and Colts Round 18 Recap

RESERVES

The Lions rode the wave of momentum, winning by 10 points against the Bulldogs in a tight contest at Fremantle Community Bank Oval.

South Fremantle got off to an early lead, but the Lions held strong, to lead by 13 at the first change.

The two sides fought hard, and although the lead didn’t change until the last term, the contest was close.

Despite leading by 20 points at three quarter time, Subiaco were challenged, as three straight goals from the Bulldogs meant it was game on. 

However, the Lions held their nerve, as they took the 7.11 (53) to 6.7 (43) win.

Corey Bellouard continues to impress, gathering 17 disposals and six marks, while Trey Kennedy had an influence, kicking two goals including the sealer.

COLTS

The Lions fell by 12 points to South Fremantle in a clash between two top five contenders

The Bulldogs started hot, but were pegged back by the Lions through goals from Malakai Champion and Campbell Henderson.

The even nature of the two sides meant Subiaco held a five-point lead at half time.

The two sided traded the lead for the remainder of the game, but unfortunately for the Lions they weren’t able to break away. 

South Fremantle took the win, with Subiaco now even on points with the Bulldogs and East Perth inside the top five.

Koltyn Tholstrup was the best of the Lions, amassing 25 touches and eight marks, while Luker Kentfield was a force up forward, kicking two goals.
