WAFLW Match Recap v Claremont

Monday, June 21, 2021 - 2:02 PM by Alice Miller

Subiaco maintained their hot form from the second half of the season as they defeated and ultimately kicked Claremont out in the first week of finals, booking their spot in the prelim this Sunday against the Swans.

After welcoming their AFLW stars a few weeks back, Subi have gained the confidence to make it all the way again this year. It was a tight affair all game on Sunday and brought the finals feel to it when only three points were the difference in the end.

Subi had five scoring shots to zip in the first term but couldn’t manage a goal from those shots until the second quarter. The third term was won by the Tigers but it was the final term that mattered the most when Claremont were held scoreless and watched the Lions kick a goal to take the win in a low scoring but high intensity game.

AFLW star Hayley Miller continued to show her experience including kicking one of the two goals for the afternoon, Amy Hunt with the other.

Subiaco have come within two kicks to claim the win the two times they’ve clashed with Swans this year, so knowing the cavalry has arrived from AFLW and the cracking form they’ve been in over the last few rounds of the season, Subi are ready to bring it to the Black and White to hopefully advance to a 2020 Grand final rematch against Peel.
