Thursday, April 15, 2021 - 8:25 AM by Alice Miller

Subiaco face a significant challenge this Saturday at 12:30pm when they match up against ladder leaders Swan Districts at their home ground Steel Blue Oval with bounce down at 12:30pm.

Subi are looking to getting back on the winners list after falling short against Peel last week, expecting their opponents to not make it an easy task.

Swans are top of the ladder with a 101.47% difference between them and second placed Peel. After having 7 straight wins from seven games of season 2021, the Lions will need to bring their best in surely their toughest match up in this season thus far.

FORM

The Lions won their first game in round one against South Freo in a close one and most recently recorded a thrashing just before the Easter break against the Bulldogs also. With 23 scoring shots to just one, Subiaco have the confidence knowing they can win big. Kia Buckley kicking 3.3, Tarnee Tester 3.2 with Amy Hunt and Kate Pocsidio kicking two apiece, all featured on the scoreboard with a big win. The Lions are looking to boost those wins as it reaches towards the halfway point of the season .

OPPONENTS FORM

Swan Districts are the team to beat this year so far having a clean sweep of the season up to this point and will surely not want this to end anytime soon. Swans have won all of their seven games, with their biggest one being recorded in round two against South Freo by 53 points with scoring shots 19 to 1. Swans will have the home ground advantage this week in their normal surroundings at Steel Blue Oval as they look to make it eight straight.

LAST TIME THEY MET

The last time these two sides met was in round 5 of this year when the Swans defeated the Lions by 36 points and prior to that in Subiaco’s successful season 2020 took the win over Swans by 27 points in Round 3. Given such little amount of time since the two cubs faced each other, the Lions will be able to reflect on the defeat of a few weeks ago and hopefully improve their performance to get the four point this time round.

GOAL KICKERS

Last match up v Swans, players Taylisha Brown and Hayley Corlett were the goal kickers for the Lions, intriguingly ready to pile on some more this week.
