Young Lion claims Outridge Medal in thrilling count

Friday, October 9, 2020 - 3:00 PM by Creed Griffiths

20-year-old Kyle Stainsby has been awarded the 2020 Subiaco Club Best & Fairest after a fantastic season from the young Lion. Stainsby entered the 2020 Season with only seven games of League football under his belt and now finishes it with still just 15 matches as well as a remarkable Outridge Medal to his name.

Stainsby has come through the ranks at the club, playing across every grade to this point. After playing strong football in both the Colts and the Reserves competition, Stainsby earnt a call up to the League side against West Coast last season, performing strongly enough to hold his place and play out the remainder of the season. The Carine Junior Football Club product played in last years WAFL Grand Final in just his seventh game, and now boasts a remarkable list of career honours after just 15 League matches.

Stainsby played every match for the Lions this season, playing a key role most weeks and regularly finding himself named as one of the best afield throughout the year. Stainsby managed to outpoll club great Kyal Horsley who already has five Outridge medals to his name, 2017 winner Leigh Kitchin and 2019 Sandover Medallist Lachlan Delahunty, adding more weight to what was already a remarkable achievement.

The 2020 Outridge Medal goes to a young star of the competition who will no doubt continue to grow as a player and achieve many more personal and team honours throughout his career. The club would like to congratulate Kyle on his brilliant season which has been recognised with this fantastic achievement.
