Round 17 Preview

Wednesday, July 31, 2019 - 9:03 AM

Subiaco will take on Perth Football Club in a round 17 clash on Thursday night in an away game at Mineral Resources Park, with bounce down at 7.10pm.

Keep an eye on Subiaco’s social media channels and Subi app for updates across the day if you cannot make it to the game.

Form

Sitting three games clear on top of the ladder, Subiaco will be looking to work together as a team and use the ball both effectively and efficiently throughout the game.  The backline will be looking to maintain composure and work efficiently to keep the ball from Perth’s forwards as much as possible, while the forward line will be looking to hit the scoreboard early on in the game. A strong four-quarter effort across the field will hopefully see Subiaco bring home the win.

Last five games

The last five games both teams went head to head have seen Subiaco effectively use the ball and hit the scoreboard allowing them to bring home the win in all of these games. Three of these games have been played at the lion’s home ground including the last two so Subiaco will be ready for what Perth will bring to the field. Round nine of this season saw Subiaco keep Perth to just one goal and four behinds. They will be looking to maintain their form and keep Perth from hitting the scoreboard. They will be looking to continue their winning streak.

Opponents Form

Perth currently sits in 4th position with eight wins and five losses. The Club had a strong start to the season with five straight wins before a couple of losses. They have played in some close games with four games being won by no more than nine points. They will be looking to maintain their position on the ladder and potentially move up, therefore, Subiaco will be prepared to face a hungry Perth at Leederville Oval.

Home vs Away

Subiaco has played better at their home ground at Leederville Oval throughout the season but has also shown they can adapt and play strong quality football in away games too. The last two games Subiaco have played against Perth have been at Leederville Oval and they have not played at Mineral Resources Park since Round 8 of the 2018 season. The lions will be looking to show that they can maintain strong form wherever they play and come away with the win.

Other Grades

Round 17 will see the reserves team take on Perth.  This game will be played at Mineral Resources Park on Saturday at 1pm. Meanwhile, the Colts team will play before the reserves game at 10:30am. They will be looking to get a win after their round 14 loss.
