Historic Occasion as Subiaco get set to Play in Inaugural WAFLW Fixture

Friday, May 3, 2019 - 8:17 AM

It will be a historic day this coming Sunday as Subiaco join with three other sides in playing in the first round of the WAFLW.

Following recent changes to the female football pathway in Western Australia, the forming of a higher standard state level competition is set to launch this weekend.

Subiaco are one of five teams that will contest the inaugural season of the WAFLW competition and following heartbreak in last year’s final WAWFL Grand Final, are aiming to go one better in taking out the first WAFLW premiership.

Led by coach Sarah Michell and with a strong compliment of AFLW listed players, supported by a core group of locally produced players, Subiaco’s Women are in a strong position for success in the first year of this newly branded competition.

As part of showcasing the WAFLW competition, one game each week will be shown as part of a live stream, with Sunday’s game between Subiaco and Swan Districts at Bassendean Oval getting top billing.

These two teams have a strong rivalry with both sides having had unprecedented runs of success in the past 15 years in the WAWFL league competition.

Be sure to be at Bassendean Oval on Sunday afternoon for this historic event or keep an eye on the live stream to see how the Subiaco Women’s team perform.
