Mix of New & Old in 2019 Subiaco Coaching Panels

Monday, December 10, 2018 - 9:27 AM

Subiaco’s coaching groups for 2019 are nearing finalisation with a group of high quality people and coaches supporting the Subiaco players in 2019.

As previously announced Beau Wardman takes over as Subiaco league coach, with Chayce Creedy following in Wardman’s shoes as colts coach.

For the Reserves premiership winning coach Matt Cavedon is back for a second season, as the Subiaco Reserves embark on a quest for a hat-trick of premierships in 2019.

Subiaco has been able to maintain a stable group within both its senior and colts assistant coaches, with a number of coaches who have been involved with the program continuing on again in 2019.

For the league team, two key assistants have remained with Nigel Hamilton and Ryan Redfern remaining in their respective posts.

Hamilton will again look after the backs, looking to replicate a historically great defensive season, while Redfern will continue the efficient work completed with the forwards.

The two key changes to the league assistant coach group come in the form of two returning Subiaco greats.

Meanwhile in an exciting development for Subiaco, highly respected and regarded former player Jason Bristow will become the league team midfield assistant coach.

Bristow is set to return to Perth in January and will add a different voice to the coaching group, possessing a very good understanding of the Subiaco culture that has been created over the past 15 years.

After a year off last year, Paul Vines is back and will be a midfield assistant, supporting Bristow.

For the reserves the three key assistants will again work with Cavedon, with premiership winning assistant coaches Robbie Forrest, Matt Scally and Martine Pearman all returning to the program.

There will be a slight change within this group, with Pearman to look after the midfield group, Forrest the back group and Scally remaining with the forward group.

The other key figure within the coaching group is the return of Kellie Properjohn after her highly acclaimed work within leadership last year.

Properjohn will continue to guide both the senior members and developing members of the senior squad as a Leadership mentor.

Meanwhile the Colts have been able to keep continuity with the well-respected Jason Hoskins remaining, and in 2019 looking after the Colts midfield group.

After supporting the side last year, Nick Visser steps into an assistant role looking after the forwards, while another new face in Brett Davis is set to look after the talls in the group.

The one vacancy that remains in the Subiaco coaching program is an assistant coach looking after the backs.

With the expansion of the talent pathway in 2019, Subiaco will have a Future side playing as part of the WAFL talent system.

The Subiaco Future’s squad will be coached by Stuart Page who has done some outstanding work in the Subiaco development system in the past two seasons.

Page is set to be supported by Tom Lowndes who will be an assistant looking after the midfield, David Emes who will look after the backs and Josh Leunig who will look after the forwards.

As a coaching assistant within the talent program will be Craig Francis.
