Subiaco Women's Come & Try Day a Success

Friday, December 7, 2018 - 3:31 PM

The Subiaco Football Club Women’s team had a “Come and Try Day” last Sunday, helping assist in the encouragement of participation of female football.

Nearly 40 girls were registered and in attendance, as the Subiaco Women continued to promote female football within the local community.

The “Come and Try Day” was part of a dual strategy from the Subiaco Women’s team to both increase the depth of the club and foster female football within the Subiaco district.

Outstanding performers from Sunday’s session will be encouraged to join the Subiaco Women team when pre-season commences later this month.

Meanwhile for all of the attendees they were able to test their skills and get exposure to a positive club environment.

Across the two hour session, the girls were taken through a warm-up session, three training drills and completed the session with some game simulation.

The West Coast Eagles were also represented during the session with Adam Selwood taking one of the session drills.

Other drills were facilitated by Subiaco Women’s players.

At the conclusion of the session the girls were treated to an on-field sausage sizzle and were also on hand for the start of the Subiaco Christmas Family Fun Day.

As the Subiaco Football Club continues to embrace its standing as a strong community pillar, this session was important in growing female participation within the community.

The Subiaco Football Club Women’s thanks all those who tried out and all those who helped the day run smoothly.
