Subiaco made it eight wins from eight to start the season with a 103 point win over East Fremantle in Round 10 of the 2018 season.

 

Courtesy of other results Subiaco now find themselves two and a half games clear at the top of the WAFL ladder.

100 POINT WINS – Saturday’s win was just the second time that Subiaco has beaten East Fremantle by over 100 points. The 103 point win was also the second highest winning margin against East Fremantle trailing just the 112 point win in Round Five of 2006.

POINTS – East Fremantle’s half time score of 0.4, was tied for their second lowest first half score ever in games against Subiaco. In an interesting little quirk, the other three times that Subiaco has held East Fremantle goalless in a first half, 1912, 1915 and 1924; the Lions have gone on to win the premiership.

MINUTES – Subiaco midfielder Max Walters kicked three goals in a five minute burst late in the last quarter to help build the Subiaco margin towards 100 points. While his teammates were missing, Walters kicked three straight goals in the burst, including two long range goals from outside 50.

SCOREBOARD – Subiaco had 15 players register a score in the rout, with the goals shared between 11 players while 12 players also registered a behind in the match. Max Walters, Lachlan Delahunty and Ben Sokol all had five scoring shots on the day.

FIRST QUARTER – Subiaco big man Lachlan Delahunty picked up 16 possessions in a stunning opening quarter burst. This was a career best in one quarter for Delahunty who finished with 27 possessions and two goals. Not to be outdone, skipper Kyal Horsley recorded 14 possessions in the third quarter, on his way to a game high 37.

BEHINDS – Subiaco recorded an inaccurate 19.26 in the match, with the 26 behinds scored the most in a WAFL game so far in 2018. It was the most behinds that Subiaco had scored in a game for over 10 years, with the previous high for behinds being in Round 7 of 2008 when Subiaco kicked it’s highest ever score of 29.33.

SCORING SHOT DIFFERENTIAL – Subiaco recorded 45 scoring shots to East Fremantle’s 12 on Saturday. This differential of 33 scoring shots was the most in a game for Subiaco when playing East Fremantle.

INSIDE 50’s – Subiaco recorded an incredible 76 forward 50 entries in the win over East Fremantle, finishing a whooping plus 53 in this category. Since being a regularly recorded statistic by the WAFL in 2011, this is the highest ever Inside 50 count in a match.

POSSESSIONS – Subiaco registered 444 possessions on Saturday, including their most kicks in a game so far in 2018, 256, as well as most handballs, 188. This was Subiaco’s highest possession total in a game since Round 14, 2009, when the Lions racked up 456 possessions against Peel. Subiaco now has the three highest possession counts of 2018.
