It is back for 2018, By The Numbers, all the numbers that sit behind every Subiaco win and loss across the season.

 

 

As the WAFL season began on Good Friday, Subiaco put together one of its most ruthless performances. See just where this big win rated in the all-time rankings of Subiaco victories.

GOOD FRIDAY WINS – Friday’s match was the seventh time since 2011 that the co-tenant rivals have battled on Good Friday. With the win, Subiaco improved to 6-1 over East Perth on Good Friday, with the only Good Friday loss back in 2015.

GOALS – Brad Stevenson kicked a career best seven goals, eclipsing his previous best of six, kicked back in 2015. Stevenson’s haul of seven was the highest in a game since Ben Sokol kicked seven back in round seven of 2016.

INSIDE 50s – Josh Deluca was a driving force for the Subiaco midfield in his first game in four years for the Lions. Deluca consistently drove the ball inside 50, accounting for eight of the side’s 60 forward entries for the day.

TACKLES – Ben Newton led the way for Subiaco with nine tackles in an impressive first up outing from the new Lion. Despite the over 100 point victory, Subiaco were still ruthless at the contest, outtackling their opponents 67 to 58.

MARKS – Ben Sokol led the Lions with 10 marks on the afternoon. It is the third time in a 45 game WAFL league career that Sokol has pulled in double digits in marks.

HALF MARGIN – In a consistent performance across the day, Subiaco outscored their opponents by 59 points in both halves of the game. First half scores were 16.7 to 7.2, second half scores were 13.7 to 3.8.

WINNING MARGIN – The 118 point winning margin was tied for 15th as Subiaco’s greatest ever winning margin. It also rated as the greatest ever round one winning margin throughout Subiaco’s history.

POINTS FOR – Subiaco’s final score of 29.14.188 was the tied for eighth as Subiaco’s greatest ever score. It was the second highest score recorded against East Perth and the highest ever score in Round One of a WAFL season.

PLAYER NUMBER – Ryan Borchet was the 1629th player to represent Subiaco in league footy. Others to debut in round one include 1630 Zac Clarke, 1631, Kaidyn Fullgrabe, 1632 Jacob Miller, 1633 Nick Menegola, 1634 Ben Newton and 1635 Drew Rohde.
