Subiaco Women Announce 2018 Coaching Panel

The Subiaco Women’s Football Club are pleased to announce their coaching panel for the 2018 season set to be spearheaded by new senior Women’s coach, Simon Quayle.

Quayle will be joined in a new look coaching group for the 2018 season with Richard Coates another new face coming on board to coach the Youth Girls team. Dave Trayner will again coach the Subiaco Women’s Reserves team in 2018 and highly regarded strength and conditioning coach Tamara Jakobson will also return in 2018.

The coaching program will be further supported with two new assistant coaches coming on with the Youth Girls in Claire Ortlepp and Rachel Ortlepp, while Coates will be an assistant alongside Quayle with the league team as the Subiaco Women’s Football Club look to further strengthen the pathway through youth girls footy to the league program.

The dual appointment of Quayle and Coates sees added experience come to the Subiaco Women’s coaching program.

Quayle has spent the past five years with the West Perth Football Club, filling a variety of roles through the senior, colts and talent programs at the club. Quayle had been a key stakeholder in the West Perth “Coaches Growth Program” designed to improve the quality of coaching at the club.

Quayle has also had involvement at the amateur football level with local Subiaco district club Kingsley and has also had coaching experience outside of football, working with talented swimmers as a swimming head coach.

The appointment of Coates meanwhile will see the Subiaco Women’s Football Club follow the lead of the men’s program in looking to invest in the talent development and pathway of young girls coming to the club and remaining with the club.

Coates has had over 16 year’s experience in coaching with his most recent stint coming as coach of Wickham Wolves in the North Pilbara Football League. Outside of coaching, Coates has also worked with the WAFC in a variety of roles within the Pilbara region.

A key contributor to country football in the region, Coates also had experience coaching the Women’s softball team. With a recent move back to Perth, Coates was the ideal candidate to help engage with youth girls in the region and provide success to the club’s youth program.

In a further boost for the Subiaco Women’s Football Club, Subiaco Reserves premiership assistant coach Martine Pearman has been announced as the Director of Coaching.

Pearman who is an assistant coach with the Fremantle Dockers AFLW side, will use her vast experience in coaching and women’s football to oversee the newly formed coaching group in a mentor role.
