PREVIEW: Round 12 (2017) vs East Perth

Two of the WAFL’s in form teams will meet at Leederville Oval as 1st placed Subiaco take on 5th placed East Perth in Round 13.

Subiaco are on a dominant 10-game winning streak and will face their co-tenants during a rich vein of form. East Perth started the season slowly but have won their last five games. The last game the Royals lost was against Subi in Round 5.

The Lions lost their opening game to South Fremantle but haven’t looked back since that humbling defeat.

The current 10 game streak stands as the 3rd longest in club history and the Maroons are producing some of their best football in the Schofield era. Despite the track record Subi will be cautious of an East Perth outfit who have hit their stride.

The Royals had the bye last week but will be rested for their biggest challenge of the season. East Perth have overcome Perth, Peel, East Fremantle, South Fremantle and West Perth in the recent stretch but face a rampant Lions side on a roll.

TALKING POINTS

SUBI SECURE RUCK

Subiaco have a legitimate ruck option for the first time since Damon Guiness in the early portions of the season. State 18’s representative Adam Creeper has stepped up after 31 reserves games and performed strongly against the Demons. Creeper had 15 disposals and 41 hit-outs against the far more experienced Christian Eyres last week.

TURF WAR

Subiaco and East Perth have had a fantastic rivalry since becoming co-tenants at Leederville Oval in 2007 and it is guaranteed to continue. Subi lead the tally at Leedy 28 – 17, including the years where it was solely held by East Perth. The Lions are undefeated at home so far this year.

PARTINGTON LIFTS FOR ROYALS

Royals youngster Luke Partington has built on his impressive 2016 season with a bigger splash in 2017. Partington is the leading disposal winner for the Royals with 254 and kicked three goals against West Perth in the last game. Subi will have to watch the Norwood midfielder who has proven to combine well with his new Eagles team-mates.
