SFC '17: Around The Club, April

There’s a lot to like about Subiaco’s fans and at our Good Friday clash against East Perth the Subi faithful delivered another reason.

Member for life Tom Bailey has been attending the Lions home from Collie for years and decided to extend the family tradition to his son Ryan. Subiaco FC is a community, family driven club and the continued traditions of our fans add to the rich heritage moving forward.

Tom, who is cousin to SFC trainer Mick “Magic” Bailey, and his family are just another example of the dedicated Maroons members.

FROM AROUND THE CLUB

VALE TONY HOGAN

Tony Hogan has passed away surrounded by his family in Melbourne. Tony was an emergency for the 1973 Grand Final team that went on to break the 40 year premiership drought for Subiaco. He played 15 league games from 1971 to 1973. Tony's son played for Claremont before being drafted to Melbourne. Thanks for the memories Tony. A maroon forever.

KITCHIN 50

Subiaco’s vice-captain Leigh Kitchin will play his 50th game against Swan Districts on the other side of the bye. Kitchin was brought over from Frankston in 2015 and established himself as an elite inside midfielder on the way to a Subi premiership in the same year. Kitch has accumulated 1132 disposals and represented West Australia twice.

CONDOLENCES TO BEALE FAMILY

The club was shocked at the sudden death of ex-player Ben Beale earlier this week. Ben played at the club in the early 90's and was often joined by Damian Hampson, Dwayne Lamb and many other Subi players in regularly attending games. Ben is survived by wife Sarah and their five children. Our sincere condolences to that family.

LADIES FORUM DISCUSS FUTURE

Subiaco’s Ladies Forum will be affected by the WAFC’s desire to to take control of the colts programs but they are committed to maintaining strong links. President Dee Kitson has also proposed further involvement on game days and are adding half-time cheese and nibblIes at home games starting against South Fremantle on May 13, Round 9.

The next Ladies Forum meeting will be on Tuesday, 2nd of May 2017 at 6:30pm in the bar area at Leederville Oval. All guests are welcome and can RSVP Dee on 0408 941 858. There will be pizza and drinks available at a cost of 20 per person.
