Footy Flashback for a big cause
Wednesday, 15 February 2017
Subiaco are hosting a throw-back charity event on the 26th of February at the Leederville Bar.
The event has been organised to support Youth Focus and aid the problems younger generations face with mental illness. The SFC are combining with YF in 2017 and will be hosting an action packed day at Leederville Oval.
Ambassador Brett Althorpe is excited to add an event to the cause and has been committed to expanding over the last few years.
"Each year I do the Ride for Youth which raises money for Youth Focus and the prevention of anxiety, depression and suicide amongst kids."
"We ride and visit rural schools to discuss what services are available to them and how they can be improved. This year we have three pelotons from Albany to Perth and another from Geraldton to Perth.
Each rider commits to raising $5000 and it's proven to be a great method in creating awareness and attention." said Althorpe
Brett is a long time Subi fan and made this flag for the 1986 Grand Final.
Althorpe resurrected the above memento for the upcoming charity night and he hopes the nostalgic memories of 1986 will help pack the venue.
"We're excited to throw the 1986 Grand Final on the big screen and we hope people will want to join us in combining the club and the cause,
"We will also be playing the rare Subiaco vs Hawthorn fixture afterwards as well. The last time the best team of the WAFL played the best of the VFL" added Althorpe
