Subi seven in State mix

Subiaco have seven players in the extended Carlton Draught WAFL squad with Wayde Twomey and Darren Rumble added to the mix this week.

The veteran defenders join Chris Phelan, Lachlan Delahunty, Clancy Wheeler, Shane Yarran and Leigh Kitchin who were included in the initial intake. Subi captain Kyal Horsley withdrew from selection with injury.

Subi’s representatives are apart of a 27-man squad preparing for South Australia this Saturday at Lathlain Park. The seven Lions have been training throughout the week in a bid to make the final 25 announced today.

Rumble replaced Swan Districts Tallan Ames in the line-up who withdrew due to soreness.

Barring catastrophe the Lions will have more WA representatives this year than in their 2014 premiership year. Five were selected in the initial intake in 2014, with George Hampson the sole Subiaco representative against the NEAFL.

This year the Lions seemingly have a broader range of talent, which was recognised by the Western Australian selection panel. Six Lions were selected in the initial intake and seven have a chance of donning the gold and black this weekend.

This year’s state game will be played at 2.15pm at Lathlain Park and broadcast via live stream on the WAFL website, hosted by WAFL commentator Glenn Mitchell and South Australian commentator Phil Aspinall, with expert comments from former Subiaco leading goal kicker Rod Willett.

The game will also be broadcast on radio by Sport FM 91.3fm and Life FM 107.9fm in Adelaide.
