Yarran the All-Star
- Thursday, 26 February 2015
Subiaco’s Shane Yarran received a unique opportunity last Thursday night when Andy Lovell contacted the forward with a spot amongst the AFL Indigenous All-Stars
A star-studded line-up of the best Indigenous AFL talent gained the services of the unknown goal-magnet from South Mandurah; and he wasted no time in making his mark.
After manning the bench for the entire first quarter, Yarran was injected into the forward line in the second and made consecutive impacts.
The 25-year-old was closely guarded by West Coast Eagles defender Will Schofield but managed to nail a set shot at goal before creating a moment of magic from a Stephen Hill (Fremantle) pass with a one handed grab in the pocket.
Yarran also displayed his speed after taking an un-contested mark in the centre square before closing in on 50 and narrowly missing with a booming drop punt.
The Yaz-man continued to provide impacts through the remainder of the game and created a bit of media buzz.
@redandblue Shane Yarran also stating his case to be on an AFL list. You'd think would be worth a punt somewhere.
@Elbosays Jarrod Harbrow and Stephen Hill were also impressive; as was Shane Yarran, who plays for Subiaco in the WAFL and was surprisingly overlooked in the last AFL draft.
