Pre-Season clashes confirmed
- Tuesday, 17 February 2015
The Lions will utilise pre-season games against South Fremantle and Perth to sharpen the squads ahead of the WAFL’s season launch in March.
Subiaco will host South Fremantle at Medibank Stadium on the 27th of February and then travel to Lathlain Park on the 7th of March to battle the Demons.
Pre-season clashes are crucial to develop chemistry amongst the Lions squad and SFC Football Manager Luke Sanders stated that Subiaco will use them to get a better idea of which players work together.
“The team has turned over a fair bit since last year so the goal is to achieve consistency and assist the players in becoming familiar with each other on the field before Round One,
“We’re in a pretty good position in regards to the players training and we have a full contingency available as we look towards these pre-season games. Were in a fairly similar situation as to what we were last year.” said Sanders.
In regards to entering the season as reigning premiers nothing has changed for the Lions in regards to preparation and determination.
“Nothing changes with the premiership. There are still 20 games of football and we have to win as many as we possibly can. Our eyes are firmly set on getting off to a good start.” Said Sanders
The Lions tested the senior list in an intra-club game last Friday night which displayed the likes of new recruits Sam Menegola, Jordan Lockyer, Scott Hancock, Leigh Kitchin and the return of young gun Michael Wood.
Sanders and the coaching staff were pleased with the intensity but are focused on nailing their structures before the start of the season.
