Big Ins for Big Stage

Subiaco looks set to welcome back three key players to help secure the club’s 12th premiership on Sunday.

Captain Kyal Horsley has recovered from a severe cork to his knee and will take his place in the Lions midfield that will take on East Perth at Patersons Stadium.

Last year's joint Outridge medalist George Hampson has recovered from a quad injury that's seen him miss the last three games.

His ability to run and carry the football will be crucial on the vast expanses of Patersons Stadium.

Matthew Boland is shaping as Subiaco's third key inclusion.

The spearhead will be desperate to add to his season tally of 53 goals after overcoming hamstring tightness that sidelined him during last week's preliminary final.

It’s fitting that the two highest scoring teams will shoot it out in the season’s final game.

When these two teams last met Subiaco was held to it’s lowest score for the season while East Perth managed to spread their scoring load amongst 11 different goal kickers.

East Perth emerged with out any major injuries from that game and aren’t expected to make any changes to their side which featured 11 West Coast Eagles listed players.

GAME CHANGERS:

CONTESTED BALL

Jarrad Schofield noted a number of areas of in need of improvement following Subiaco's 32 point loss to the Royals in the second semi final.

One of those was winning the football from stoppages.

The likes of Justin Joyce, Jason Bristow and Brett Mahoney will need to be at their aggressive best.

UNDERDOGS

While the Lions have beaten East Perth twice this year, but betting agencies have them as the underdogs this weekend.

The semi-final loss forced Subiaco to take the long way to the Grand Final how ever the side’s gutsy performance in the elimination preliminary final provided the younger Lions with the perfect dress rehearsal for the pressures of grand final day.

ROYAL REDEMPTION

They say you need to lose one to win one and East Perth are sure to be hungry after going down in last season’s decider to arch rivals West Perth.

The Royals are chasing their first flag since 2002.
