Miller heading to the State 16's

Subiaco’s Jacob Miller has been included for the second intake of the WA 16s State Academy

The 16-year-old Kalgoorlie player performed impressively in the WAFL 16s carnival and came under notice of the State selectors.

At the State Combine testing Jacob recorded the highest running vertical leap and fastest 20 metre sprint time.

Miller travels an astonishing 1200 kilometres just to play football in Perth; dedication that Player Development Officer Jeff Lind believes confirms his commitment to football.

"He’s an extremely dedicated kid who puts a lot of emphasis into his preparation. He travelled down from Kalgoorlie on five occasions in the past two months to play with Subiaco because of his desire and passion for the game," said Lind

"Being a part of the State 16’s squad will be a huge thing for Jacob Miller as the level of competition and professionalism goes up. I think he was initially overawed when attending the combine testing but once he settled he performed at a very high standard."

Miller is a strongly build midfielder who has the ability to swing to half-back or half forward which offers versatility to the State coaches.

“Miller has explosive pace and is a bigger built midfielder who goes hard at the contests. He also possesses an extremely penetrating left foot and really cleans hands, which makes him a versatile player.”

"I think the state squad will probably look at using him as a swing-man. With his bigger size of 185 cm and 80 kgs allowing him to play various roles.

Miller will travel to Perth on a weekly basis to train with the Western Australian 16’s squad for the next month before embarking to the Nationals in June.
