Colts lose season opener

The Subiaco Colts have gone down in their first game of 2014; defeated by South Fremantle 6.8 50 to 14.7 91.

The Lions faded out after a lively start, conceding cheap goals to accentuate the deficit between the sides.

Rhys McAlister was electric in the forward line with five majors and 13 possessions switching between the forward line and midfield.

WA State 16’s Captain Greg Clark also had an impressive outing to gather 21 disposals on the wing.

KEY FACTORS

HITTING TARGETS:
South Fremantle were significantly better with the ball in their hands with several Lions turnovers converted to majors. Head Coach Steve Armstrong will surely be addressing skill execution this week at training.

HIT-OUT HONING:
Despite winning their fair share of hit-outs through the ruck combination of Adam Creeper, Ben Evans and Tom Hooper the Lions couldn’t benefit over periods of ruck dominance. This lead to an extremely lopsided centre clearance count where the Bulldogs generated a lot of drive.
