Colts go down in Preliminary final

The Subiaco Colts season has been ended with a 60 point preliminary final loss against the Claremont Tigers.

The Lions got off to a fast start against the first placed Tigers but couldn’t maintain the intensity as the reigning premiers ground a huge seven goal last quarter to silence Subi.

Jordan Bestry again proved to be a dangerous option forward kicking Subiaco’s biggest tally of three goals.

Midfielders Aaron Summers and Hayden Kennedy were also prominent in the final and an instrumental part of Subiaco’s fast three goal start.

GAME CHANGERS

CREEPER:
Adam Creeper continues to show encouraging signs of his future as a Subiaco FC ruckman. The kid held his own against a formidable opponent in Claremont’s Darcy Cameron to win 12 hit outs and help level the midfield battle. Creeper has a giant leap and huge potential for the Subiaco Football Club.

EXPERIENCE THE KEY:
The Tigers ability to hold the momentum and grind out the game was reflective of a side with a touch more experience. Due to Claremont’s squad depth they have the ability to play groups of senior footballers; which can take advantage of some of the younger, learning players. This was evident in the second half of the game where the Tigers packed on ten goals to Subiaco’s three.

LOOKING FORWARD:
Despite a humbling loss to finish the Colts season; 2013 has been a massive year for the development of multiple players. Subiaco put together a formidable back line throughout the course of 2013 which worked wonderfully, a midfield which hosts an array of exciting players and a forward line which at its best has been unstoppable. Coach Steve Armstrong has been brilliant in his second year as Colts coach to usher through a new generation of Subiaco footballers; and will hopefully be present to watch these players transcend into senior football.
