Lions Hold Mental Edge

Subiaco will look to keep intact its outstanding record against East Fremantle when the two teams meet on Saturday at East Fremantle Oval.

The Lions have won 25 out of their last 26 meetings with the Sharks, the only loss coming in round 21 of season 2010.

Subiaco’s dominance over East Fremantle spans across three decades, with 31 wins from 35 matches since 1999.

The Sharks look set to gain the services of West Coast star Daniel Kerr as they aim to break their hoodoo.

Regarded by many as West Coast’s premier midfielder, the 29-year-old is on the comeback trail from knee surgery during the off-season.

Kerr and the rest of the East Fremantle midfield will go toe to toe with an in-from Subiaco engine room.

The Lion’s 15 point win over East Perth was inspired by the likes of a blistering Brett Mahoney and a relentless Jason Bristow who tallied a remarkable 9 tackles in the first half against the Royals.

Meanwhile Sharks defender Mitch Brown could get a West Coast call-up to replace tall defender Eric Mackenzie who’s been rated as a 50-50 chance to recover from a hamstring injury.

The only admission from Subiaco’s side is Callum Sinclair who has been named in West Coast’s 25 man squad to take on Hawthorn on Sunday.
