Room for Error

Rookie Subiaco coach Jarrad Schofield concedes his new game plan may take some getting used to and has urged his players to keep asking questions.

Almost five months of pre-season training comes to an end this weekend with an intra-club hit out at Medibank Stadium.

“It’s been a long pre-season. I think the boys are in a good position physically to have a good crack at it. I think they’re probably sick and tired of doing all the running, they’re itching to get amongst it.” Schofield said.

And according to the new coach Lions fans can expect to see a fresh style of play, different to that which saw them plummet from 2011 Grand finalists to finishing 7th last season.

“The structural type stuff and game plan has changed from previous years so it’s important that these guys really adhere to that and really implement it in the pre-season games.”

But the 2004 AFL premiership player wont be losing any sleep if things don’t click right away.

“If it doesn’t come off initially or we’re not getting our just rewards because blokes are a bit unsure, well then that’s what practice games are all about, making sure they keep asking questions, they keep trying to implement it and we are really setting ourselves up for round 2 when we take on West Perth.”
