Statement to members

Pat Hasset evades an East Perth tackle. The Royals will be aligned with West Coast, while Peel with Fremantle.

Subiaco Football Club remains strongly opposed to the WAFC’s model for a host club alignment in the WAFL competition.

Like has been widely reported, the club was expecting a draft model of a proposed host club arrangement last month when the WAFC delivered a fait accompli and then expected us to implement their decision.

Suffice to note that the club is continuing to work with the other seven non-aligned clubs to strive for a fair and equitable deal, which currently has not been delivered.

Subiaco CEO Peter Capes said: “The Presidents, CEO’s and Football Managers from the seven non-aligned clubs have reviewed the WAFC model and discussion papers and correspondence and are united in demanding a number of changes to the model,”

“The integrity of the WAFL competition must be beyond question by supporters and fans and we must continue to support the principles of the district model that underpins all of our clubs.”

The immediate concern is to ensure an even competition for 2013 and beyond and that the very generous partner clubs arrangements are amended to meet the expectations of the WAFL competition.

The partnership agreement will not start until season 2014 with an initial minimum period of five years and there must also be 20 months notice before terminating any partnering agreement.

Subiaco Football Club will continue to strive to perform as best as is possible on the field and remains confident of a solid year on the field in 2013 and beyond.
