Our season heads into the last 5 games with our ambitions to finish as high as we can on the ladder. Our stocks have again been depleted in the past few weeks with senior players Ben Randall, Chris Phelan and Rob Forrest all dropping out for the remainder of the year. All three have missed large chunks of the season along with Sinclair, Davidson, Headland, Rumble and Blechynden. On top of the two boys in Stevenson and Phillips who got injured before the start it has been a frustrating time for all as we were having to change the team quite dramatically each week which doesn’t give any continuity.
We have been looking at some of our younger types coming into the senior group from the colts and they have certainly added some strength to our list going forward. Garcia, Wohling, Harvie and Fetherstonhaugh have all pllayed reserves and the two Sheed brothers along with Clarke, Halligan and Sommers should all get an opportunity over the next 5 weeks.
Rory Muller will push for league selection this weekend and he has been sorely missed all year with his groin problems. Between the colts, reserves and league we have used a lot of players to date to build and develop our stocks for next year. We have been impressed with some of our developing players, Buddy Pickett has been very good for the last month, Daye, Mahoney, Joyce and Hampson have all shown good signs while Wheeler has continued to impress.
We are very focused on finishing the season strongly and the remainder of the squad staying fit we should be playing a better brand of football over the coming month as the last two games have been disappointing.
We are a lot younger now and have retired a lot of good players recently but we are very aware that going forward with our best team we will be a strong club in all grades.
Look forward to your continued support over the next 5 games.
