Saturday 25th July marked the annual NAB AFL Auskick Gala Day for the Subiaco District, with more than 750 children taking part in Auskick grid games at Richard Guelfi Reserve Balcatta.
Smarter than Smoking Development Officer Ben Haywood was very pleased with the way the day turned out.
"Season 2009 has seen a general increase in all our Auskick numbers and the day is testament to the growth we have experienced in the Auskick market”.
WA Football Commission General Manager of Education and Development Colin West, along with NAB representative Ross Fitzgerald, were present on the day and were extremely happy, with a record 54 teams taking part in the day. The support from NAB, not only of the Auskick program but other AFL programs is a credit to the community focus in which NAB prides its self on.
The support at the NAB AFL Auskick Gala Day by the Subiaco Football Club Senior players and 16’s development players was fantastic, with 40 players including stars such as Allistair Pickett, Marc Webb, Chad Cossom, Robert Forrest, Daniel Chick and Brad Smith helping umpire on the day.
"For the Subiaco Football Club to be there supporting the day is fantastic! Being the single biggest promotion of grass roots football within the District and Club, just shows how the Subiaco players are willing to give back to junior football, where most of them got their start.” Mr Haywood said.
Finally a sincere thanks needs to go the Karrinyup Saints Junior Football for the hosting of the day and the planning involved in making the day such a success. The support of the Subiaco Golds is also greatly appreciated for their tireless efforts cooking the BBQ where all profits were donated back to the Karrinyup Saints JFC.
